Fog delays flights in Delhi
New Delhi: Road traffic was paralysed and flights delayed for hours as a think blanket of fog enveloped the Delhi on Saturday. The road traffic moved at snail's pace and flights were delayed as the visibility was reduced to 50 meters. According to reports, at least 20 flights have been delayed or cancelled. Air Deccan flight to Dehra Dun was cancelled and another Air Deccan flight was diverted to Ahmedabad. Harried passengers who had been waiting for hours at the airport, had grueling time getting any information from operators. "I am here since 5:30 a.m. and having a harrowing time along with my family. My flight was to take off at 8:00 a.m. but it has been delayed. We were not told anything in advance. Even now there's no one to update us on anything," said Mohammed Shahab, a passenger. The northern parts of India are in a severe grip of cold with snowfall, icy winds and intermittent drizzles. The region usually witnesses early morning fog every winter when night temperatures often dip below five degrees Celsius.
